Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the primary uses of BFM® blanking caps?

BFM® blanking caps are versatile tools used to prevent contamination during cleaning or change-overs in industrial settings. They serve as excellent sight-glasses or inspection ports due to their transparent Seeflex material, allowing for visibility of product flow within closed vessels. Additionally, they are effective in sealing off parts of equipment to prevent dust emissions into the factory environment.

  • How do BFM® blanking caps contribute to maintaining cleanliness and safety in manufacturing environments?

Made from durable and transparent Seeflex material, BFM® blanking caps ensure a dust-tight seal, protecting products from contamination and preventing dust from escaping into the manufacturing area. This helps maintain a clean and safe work environment, particularly crucial in industries such as food processing where sanitation and hygiene are paramount.

  • What are the physical and operating characteristics of the Seeflex material used in BFM® blanking caps?

Seeflex is an ether-based thermoplastic polyurethane with a gloss finish and a wall thickness of approximately 0.9 mm. It features a high tensile strength of 40 MPa and a hardness of 90 Shore A. Seeflex blanking caps can operate within a temperature range of -25 to 110°C, with a surge temperature limit of 120°C, and are suitable for environments experiencing vibration and oscillation but not suited for compression.

  • What certifications do BFM® blanking caps hold, and why are they important?

BFM® blanking caps are certified under FDA 21 CFR 177.1680 & 177.2600 and USDA, making them compliant for use in food-related industries. They are also 3A certified, ensuring they meet stringent hygienic standards required in dairy and other food processing applications. Furthermore, they comply with EU regulations (EC) 1935/2004, 2023–2006 & 10/2011, and are Atex Certified for use in dust explosion hazardous areas, with certain restrictions, highlighting their suitability for various industrial applications where safety and compliance are critical.
